On the opening day of the Dubai International Boat Show, Oceanco unveiled its latest design: the 101m LILY, aimed at visionaries and trailblazers.
“LILY showcases what becomes possible when creative design aligns with cutting-edge construction and engineering,” says Paris Baloumis, Group Marketing Director at Oceanco. “It embodies Oceanco’s mission to create a fully buildable yacht for a forward-thinking owner. LILY isn’t just a vision—it’s ready to be brought to life.”
Conceived by Vripack, LILY's exterior draws inspiration from the elegance of the water lily. Its dynamic, asymmetrical form sets it apart from anything previously seen at sea. With a layered layout and sustainable energy systems, it offers both a luxurious onboard lifestyle and a minimized environmental footprint.
“Oceanco’s 'Beyond Custom' approach is about delivering what others might consider unachievable,” explains Marnix J. Hoekstra, Co-Creative Director at Vripack. “From the outset, they encouraged us to think differently and pursue radical ideas. They found smart engineering solutions to realize our boldest visions, resulting in LILY—a yacht that completely reimagines life on the water.”
Asymmetry and Flow: A New Standard in Superyacht Design
LILY defies convention with her fully asymmetrical architecture. Through advanced monocoque construction, she features overlapping decks and a multi-level, open-plan design that enhances spatial flow and creates striking sightlines throughout. Generous glazing further amplifies the sense of openness and immersion in the seascape.
Her layout supports social versatility, with intimate areas tailored for different groups of guests. The expansive leisure deck forms the center of onboard life, complete with a swimming pool at the stern, fitness and wellness zones, a watersports hub, bar, and dining area.
The split-level guest deck accommodates six cabins and a rear-facing lounge with a balcony. Cabins are staggered on port and starboard sides to provide privacy for separate families or parties. The upper deck houses three more cabins, an open cinema lounge, and a suspended playroom accessible by bridge.
A Private Haven for the Owner
The topmost deck is a secluded sanctuary for the owner, featuring a private apartment and terrace. Accessed via elevator or stepping stones over a lily pond, this space offers floor-to-ceiling curved glass with one-way film for privacy. The split-level design separates the living space above from sleeping quarters below, creating an elegant and restful retreat.
Smart Airflow and Environmental Awareness
An oval aperture above the owner’s entry draws fresh air into the interior. The tiered layout promotes passive ventilation, reducing dependence on mechanical cooling systems and increasing energy efficiency.
Operational Excellence for Crew
With accommodations for up to 33 crew members, LILY is optimized for smooth operations. A well-equipped galley, generous storage, and discreet circulation paths separate guest and crew movements to maintain privacy and service efficiency.
Virtual Bridge, Real Control
Instead of a traditional bridge, LILY features a virtual bridge on the upper deck equipped with the latest navigation technology. Panoramic cameras and digital displays replace forward-facing windows, while side balconies and windows maintain a physical connection to the environment.
Future-Proof Energy Strategy
LILY advances Oceanco and Lateral’s Energy Transition Platform (ETP), ensuring she can evolve alongside emerging technologies. Her power system combines methanol-reforming fuel cells with dual-fuel engines capable of using both methanol and diesel. Dedicated fuel tanks enable flexibility while maintaining optimal performance.
“LILY’s adaptable fuel setup means she can travel anywhere without concerns about fuel availability,” says Simon Brealey, Chief Mechanical Engineer at Lateral. “She’s designed to reduce emissions wherever green methanol is accessible, and her efficient architecture supports transatlantic range regardless of fuel type.”
Next-Gen Propulsion: ABB Dynafin
LILY incorporates ABB’s Dynafin™, a revolutionary propulsion system inspired by the tail movement of marine mammals. Its cycloidal propeller design ensures high efficiency, precise maneuvering, and a quiet ride. With fewer moving parts and a modular layout, it offers greater reliability and simplified maintenance. Low rotational speeds further reduce vibration and noise, enhancing comfort onboard.
Lateral and ABB continue to collaborate on optimizing Dynafin for future applications, as it presents a compelling solution for sustainable propulsion and luxury at sea.

Oceanco is a Dutch-based, privately held yacht builder specializing in fully custom, large-scale yachts. Since 1987, the company has focused on constructing full-displacement vessels typically measuring around 80 meters (260 feet) in length. It is owned by Omani billionaire Mohammed Al Barwani.
Each Oceanco project is one of a kind, yet the clients share a remarkable trait: they approach them with bold ambitions and challenge them with “what if” ideas. It’s in these conversations that true creative synergy begins. Every yacht in the Oceanco fleet is a reflection of that connection—where visionary thinking meets their passion for turning imagination into reality.
