Venice served as a breathtaking setting on Saturday, May 3rd, for the 20th edition of the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards, where the sea itself took centre stage. Amid the celebration of nautical excellence, Mangusta Oceano 39 earned top honours in the Displacement Motor Yachts – 499 499GT and below, 35 to 39.9m category.
Hosted annually by the prestigious BOAT International magazine, the World Superyacht Awards shine a spotlight on innovation, craftsmanship, and design excellence within the global superyacht industry. Winners are selected by a panel of seasoned superyacht owners—both current and former—who bring firsthand knowledge and insight to the judging process.
For Mangusta, this recognition affirms its longstanding dedication to technical mastery and design sophistication. The Oceano 39's victory is particularly meaningful as it coincides with the company’s 40th anniversary, marking both a milestone year and a celebration of Mangusta’s legacy and vision for the future.
A New Chapter in Long-Range Cruising
Constructed at the Mangusta shipyard in Viareggio, the Oceano 39 is the smallest model in the brand’s long-range displacement series. The award-winning yacht is the second unit in this line and made its debut at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival.
Measuring 39.2 metres in length and 8.5 metres in beam, with a gross tonnage of 324 GT, the yacht features a composite hull and a carbon-composite superstructure. Powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M86 engines, each producing 1700 HP, she achieves a top speed of 15 knots and cruises comfortably at 12 knots. With a range of 2,250 nautical miles, she is well-equipped for extended voyages and long-distance luxury yacht charter experiences.
Accommodations include five guest cabins for up to 12 guests, along with space for seven crew members, all designed with high standards of comfort and functionality in mind.

Design Collaboration and Signature Features
The exterior styling of the Mangusta Oceano 39 was designed by Alberto Mancini, who worked closely with Mangusta’s in-house technical team. Together, they created a vessel that balances modern aesthetics with intelligent functionality. Clean lines, expansive glazing, and open-plan layouts define the yacht's visual identity.
Notable features include floor-to-ceiling windows on the main deck and a cohesive use of materials across indoor and outdoor spaces. The upper deck boasts a second salon and multiple lounge areas, offering the atmosphere of a private patio suspended above the sea. At the bow, an infinity pool with a partially transparent bottom allows light to filter into the owner’s suite below, blending leisure with architectural ingenuity.
Additional standout elements include an 85-square-metre flybridge enclosed entirely in glass and a flexible beach club area equipped with fold-down terraces, transforming the aft section into a waterside retreat.

Why the Judges Chose Mangusta Oceano 39
The judging panel praised Mangusta for its successful shift from high-performance yachts to long-range cruisers. One judge remarked, “This company has done an amazing job in pivoting from go-fast boats to cruisers.” The panel cited the Oceano 39's build quality, spacious layout, volume efficiency, and strong overall value as decisive factors.
Judges also commended the yacht’s harmonious interior styling, highlighting the thoughtful continuity in materials—such as teak used both indoors and out—and the extensive use of natural light through glazed surfaces. These elements, including sections of operable glass, seamlessly connect interior spaces to the outdoors, creating a fluid and open experience for those on onboard.
