For those who believe yachting is only about basking on the Côte d’Azur, Valour is here to change your perspective. The latest explorer yacht to emerge from Feadship’s renowned shipyard in Aalsmeer, Netherlands, this 79.5-meter steel giant was designed to conquer the most remote corners of the world—from icy Arctic waters to the lush coasts of Borneo and beyond.
Built for a Visionary Adventurer
Commissioned by an experienced Feadship owner with a passion for exploration, Valour has been engineered specifically to tackle the Northwest Passage and other challenging routes. Its rugged steel hull is reinforced with a two-meter-thick ice belt that wraps around the vessel above and below the waterline, earning it the prestigious Bureau Veritas Young Ice 2 classification—an assurance of readiness for harsh polar conditions.
But Valour isn’t just about muscle and might. This explorer also boasts remarkable sophistication in both design and sustainability, blending cutting-edge technology with a bold aesthetic that’s truly one of a kind.
Pioneering Green Technology
Underneath its robust exterior lies a revolutionary hybrid propulsion system—a product of Feadship’s Advanced Electrical Drive program. Ditching conventional engines and generators, Valour runs on four highly efficient variable-speed generators connected to a powerful DC grid and an enormous lithium-ion battery bank that can store over 5.3 megawatt-hours of energy—more than five times the capacity of Feadship’s trailblazing Savannah.
Solar panels integrated into the yacht’s mast contribute additional clean energy, while the system’s zero-emissions mode can keep the yacht running silently and sustainably for up to 48 hours. Even its planned use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biofuel could reduce carbon output by up to 90%.
Propulsion is handled by twin Schottel EcoPeller thrusters and a Rim-Drive bow thruster, giving Valour impressive manoeuvrability and precision. For guest comfort in any sea conditions, both XT fins and MAGlift stabilisers have been installed.
A Distinctive Profile
At the owner’s request, the exterior design was imagined to look “recognisable from outer space,” and the result is nothing short of spectacular. With its bold dreadnought bow and sleek lines reminiscent of a modern naval frigate, Valour makes a statement wherever she sails. Designed by Chris Bottoms of Studio De Voogt, the yacht also features standout elements like an infinity pool with contra-flow currents and one of the largest tender doors ever constructed on a vessel of this size.
Designed for Adventure and Comfort
Despite its polar credentials, Valour offers expansive outdoor and indoor spaces ideal for entertaining in warmer climates. Wide, walk-around decks and creative use of space reflect an emphasis on comfort and practicality. The owner even ensured the yacht would welcome his three Golden Retrievers, complete with a grass-covered relief station and a dedicated dog shower—thoughtful touches that highlight how personal and custom-built this yacht truly is.
Interiors that Inspire
Inside, the interiors crafted by Bannenberg & Rowell showcase a striking blend of stone, wood, glass, and metal, exuding a natural yet refined ambiance. The focal point is a magnificent main staircase made from more than 48,000 individual pieces—a testament to the shipyard’s obsession with detail.
The private owner’s deck features a forward suite with a Jacuzzi overlooking the helipad, a spacious dressing room, and a private office. Guests are treated to six luxurious suites on the main deck, accommodating up to fourteen people. There’s also a sky lounge, formal and casual dining for fourteen, two Jacuzzis, a beach club with folding terraces, a gym, and ample space for diving and water sports equipment.
Adding a touch of nostalgia, the main salon houses a custom audio system with McIntosh stereo equipment, a turntable, and a handpicked vinyl collection—proving that even on the cutting edge of modern exploration, there’s room for classic charm.
Ready to Make Waves
Valour is expected to make her official debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show before vying for honours at the World Superyacht Awards—further cementing Feadship’s reputation as a pioneer in sustainable, bespoke yacht building.
For those who dream of true adventure without sacrificing luxury, Valour embodies a new frontier: a yacht that’s as comfortable in the ice of the Arctic as it is at anchor in a tropical lagoon, delivering both elegance and endurance on a grand scale.
