Oceanco proudly presents Leviathan, formerly known as Project Y722 — a 111-meter (364-foot) diesel-electric superyacht that reimagines the way we live, work, and explore at sea. Guided by intent rather than tradition, Leviathan is a vessel where every decision centers on the people who operate and enjoy her.
Commissioned by an experienced owner deeply committed to teamwork and crew wellbeing, Leviathan signals a new era in yacht design, construction, and operation. From the earliest stages, crew members were not merely future operators but active collaborators, offering practical insights that shaped a vessel optimized for those who run her day to day.
Every material and system on board was selected not to minimize work, but to channel effort toward more meaningful tasks. Low-maintenance finishes such as honed stone surfaces and natural wool carpets reduce routine upkeep, freeing crew to focus on guest experiences, support for onboard research, and managing complex real-time operations. Traditional upkeep-heavy features — like polished wooden handrails, expansive teak decking, and large painted superstructure panels — have been replaced with advanced alternatives such as composite capping rails and decks, along with floor-to-ceiling glass bulkheads that enhance both durability and aesthetic appeal.
Leviathan’s design is rooted in a people-first philosophy. Her naval architecture is a collaboration between Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco, with exterior styling by Oceanco and interiors by Mark Berryman Design. The owner played a hands-on role throughout the process, working alongside their technical representatives at YTMC and Y.CO to ensure the project stayed true to its guiding principles. Every detail reflects the combined expertise of crew, designers, and builders, creating a yacht tailored to real-world operation and comfort.

As a lasting tribute to the collaborative spirit behind the build, Leviathan’s central staircase features a glass panel engraved with the names of more than 2,000 individuals who contributed to her creation — a permanent reminder that she was conceived and built by people, for people.
“Leviathan represents a new mindset in yachting — one that puts purpose at the heart of design, ownership, and operations,” says Deniz de Koningh, Project Director at Oceanco. “Her owner’s vision sets a progressive benchmark for the industry, and we’re eager to see the influence she will have on the future of yacht building.”
“A sanctuary where strength meets serenity, Leviathan’s sharp lines and balanced form embody the perfect union of style and function,” adds Dan Morgan, Managing Director of YTMC.
“She’s more than a high-performance vessel,” says Charlie Birkett, CEO and Co-Founder of Y.CO. “She’s a self-sustaining ecosystem, designed to deliver everything from exceptional hospitality to cutting-edge research — proof of what happens when people and purpose guide the process.”
Leviathan will commence sea trials in the coming weeks, with further details on her capabilities and vision to follow soon.
