A new era of sailing innovation is set to take center stage at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, where a pioneering sub-500 GT catamaran will debut, showcasing the integration of solid wing sail technology.
This forward-thinking concept is designed to live up to its bold name, featuring wings that can tilt during navigation, lowering the air draught to just under 12 metres (approximately 40 feet). Such adaptability opens up cruising routes previously inaccessible to yachts of this scale, significantly enhancing the possibilities for adventurous owners.
The Aero Wing Sail system, engineered by Rondal, is constructed from advanced lightweight composites, drawing inspiration from aerospace manufacturing techniques. The wings are entirely free-standing and capable of a full 360° rotation around their axis. Aerodynamic flaps fine-tune the camber to deliver optimal performance, while their ability to twist or invert at the tips provides powerful depowering options and contributes to yacht stability. When idle, the sails naturally feather with the wind, and in extreme conditions, they can be tilted flat for protection.
The yacht’s general arrangement has been carefully developed in collaboration with Michael Leach Design, a studio recognized for its expertise in large catamaran superyachts. Naval architecture and exterior styling come from Dixon Yacht Design, ensuring a seamless balance between performance and aesthetics.
