In a defining moment for the Italian yacht builder, Sanlorenzo has revealed the 74Steel, the largest and most technologically advanced yacht ever produced by the shipyard. Unveiled in La Spezia, this 74-metre masterpiece represents a new benchmark for innovation, craftsmanship, and customisation in the world of luxury yacht charter and private ownership.
A Flagship That Redefines Steel at Sea
Built in steel and aluminium and spanning around 1,900 GT, the Sanlorenzo 74Steel combines strength and serenity in equal measure. It is not simply the brand’s new flagship — it is a statement of design philosophy, showcasing how scale can enhance harmony rather than excess.
“This is the most ambitious project in our history,” said Massimo Perotti, Chairman and CEO of Sanlorenzo. “The 74Steel is more than our largest yacht; it embodies the core values of our brand — elegance, restraint, and the purity of life at sea. We wanted to prove that a yacht of this size can maintain the refinement and precision Sanlorenzo is known for.”
With its refined exterior proportions by Zuccon International Project, the 74Steel presents a balance of soft curves and architectural confidence. Its distinctive vertical bow and dynamic stern add a powerful character while optimising performance and space. The yacht’s elegant lines, generous glazing, and harmonious balance of form and function reflect a design language that merges artistry with advanced engineering.

Innovation in Design and Engineering
The 74Steel is developed on a pre-engineered technical platform that allows exceptional flexibility. While engineered for 72 metres LOA, each of the four hulls ordered so far varies slightly in length, thanks to different bow shapes and layouts chosen by their owners.
Each build demonstrates Sanlorenzo’s made-to-measure philosophy, enabling owners to personalise the interior configuration, decor, and even propulsion systems. The first two hulls are equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid system, while the third will feature a traditional shaft-line setup.
Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo, describes the approach as “customisation with reliability”. He explains, “Each 74Steel is unique. Our clients co-create their yachts with us, shaping every space while relying on a proven platform for performance and stability.”

Architecture on the Water
Externally, Bernardo Zuccon defines the 74Steel as a “floating architectural statement.” The yacht’s exterior design merges structural strength with aesthetic calm, using sinuous lines that project balance and timelessness. “This project marks a significant change in scale for Sanlorenzo,” says Zuccon. “It embodies what we call ‘machines à ’habiter’—living architecture inspired by Le Corbusier’s philosophy.”
Inside, Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini have created an environment focused on natural light, organic forms, and tactile luxury. Each piece of furniture was conceived to echo the yacht’s sculpted exterior, with curved edges and flowing contours. Matte wood tones are paired with polished metal accents and rich marbles, each ensuite bathroom featuring unique varieties of stone and bespoke artwork.

A Sanctuary of Space and Serenity
The owner’s deck is the crown jewel of the 74Steel—a private haven covering more than 300 square metres. The suite features a panoramic bedroom overlooking a forward terrace with a jacuzzi, an elegant lounge and office, two spa-inspired bathrooms, and an expansive walk-in wardrobe. Smart access routes ensure complete privacy, with separate stairways for crew and guests.
Below, the main deck hosts five guest cabins, including a full-beam VIP suite that can be converted into two doubles. The main saloon blends an open-plan lounge and cinema area, separated by a sleek bar that leads to a dining room for up to 14 guests. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors invite the sea indoors, while a large glass-bottomed pool on the aft deck fills the beach club below with shifting light.
The bridge deck integrates a 56-square-metre wheelhouse by Team Italia, a skylounge with foldable glass panels, and an aft terrace designed for al fresco dining. The foredeck doubles as a touch-and-go helipad, while the sun deck offers panoramic views, a firepit, a jacuzzi, and a full-service bar for relaxed outdoor living.
At sea level, the beach club and wellness centre redefine relaxation. Expanding to nearly 290 square metres when side platforms are deployed, it includes a gym, massage suite, sauna, hammam, and a family lounge. The transom door folds seamlessly into the swim platform, connecting guests directly with the ocean.

Engineering the Future
One of the most significant innovations aboard the 74Steel is its diesel-electric propulsion system, developed in collaboration with Siemens Energy. Six variable-speed Volvo Penta generators power twin Schottel E-Pods, providing both efficiency and redundancy. This system not only enhances fuel economy and stability but also allows for greater freedom in interior design — relocating technical spaces to make room for leisure areas such as the spa and beach club.
The yacht also features an advanced HVAC system using Variable Air Volume (VAV) technology, automatically adjusting air circulation and temperature by zone for maximum comfort and energy efficiency.
Crew operations are equally refined. The lower and tank decks include a professional galley, crew mess, and 11 crew cabins, plus a captain’s cabin on the bridge deck. Dedicated stairways ensure discreet service flow, while the first hull includes an onboard hydroponic garden for growing fresh produce at sea—a detail that underscores Sanlorenzo’s sustainability mindset.

A Benchmark for the Industry
At 74 metres, the 74Steel sits at the upper limit of Sanlorenzo’s range, intentionally below the 2,000 GT mark to maintain flexibility, efficiency, and manageability. With three units already sold and a fourth under negotiation before launch, the model has clearly resonated with the market.
For Sanlorenzo, the 74Steel is not merely a flagship — it is a philosophy made tangible. It embodies the future of yachting, where scale meets sophistication, and power is expressed through silence, light, and space.
As Massimo Perotti summarised: “The 74Steel challenges the notion that bigger means excess. It shows that elegance, proportion, and soul can define even the largest yacht. This is a new direction — for us and for the future of yacht design.”
The Sanlorenzo 74Steel stands as a new icon in the world of yacht charter, uniting artistry, engineering, and personal expression in one extraordinary vessel — a floating sanctuary where technology and tranquillity coexist, and every journey becomes a work of art.
