Fifteen years after reshaping expectations for steel superyachts, Sanlorenzo opens a new chapter with the arrival of the 58Steel—an advanced evolution of the highly regarded 57Steel and a defining statement in the 55- to 60-meter segment. The first unit, Perla Lunar, has already touched the water, while construction is under way on the second hull, confirming strong momentum for the new platform.
At its core, the 58Steel represents a forward-looking interpretation of steel yacht design, combining expanded volumes, increased flexibility, and a pioneering diesel-electric propulsion system. Together, these elements redefine onboard comfort, spatial freedom, and environmental responsibility—positioning the yacht not only as a successor but also as a benchmark for the future.
Space Reimagined, Proportions Redefined
Although only one meter longer than its predecessor, the 58Steel introduces a completely new naval platform. With a widened beam of 10.8 meters, the yacht delivers interior volumes more commonly associated with vessels approaching 64 meters. The result is a layout that prioritizes liveability and adaptability, allowing owners to shape the yacht around their individual lifestyle.
Accommodation is arranged to maximize both privacy and flexibility. The Lower Deck features two full-beam VIP cabins with generous natural light, while the Main Deck hosts a Supreme VIP suite offering comfort comparable to a master cabin. Above, the Upper Deck is conceived as a private owner’s domain—an elevated retreat with panoramic views, complete with a pool, office, dressing room, and a lounge that can be configured as a private cinema, making the layout equally attractive for private use or high-end charter.
At the stern, the beach club unfolds across three sides, transforming into a floating terrace at sea level. Designed as a wellness-focused environment, the space incorporates a bar, hammam, gym, and beauty area, creating a seamless connection between relaxation, water, and light.
Silent Efficiency: Diesel-Electric Propulsion
One of the defining features of the 58Steel is the introduction of a diesel-electric propulsion system, marking the first application of this technology within Sanlorenzo’s steel fleet. Designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising performance, the system delivers approximately 10% lower emissions compared to conventional propulsion setups.
Powered by five 425 kW generators and supported by a 1 MWh battery pack, the configuration enables up to two hours of near-silent cruising or as much as eight hours of zero-emissions hotel mode while at anchor. Azimuthal pods with rotating propellers enhance maneuverability while significantly reducing vibration and onboard noise, contributing to a notably calmer experience at sea.
The engineering redesign extends beyond propulsion. By reorganizing the engine room onto a single deck, designers freed more than 40 square meters of space, which has been reallocated to guest areas and the beach club—further reinforcing the yacht’s emphasis on comfort and spatial efficiency.
Interiors Driven by Balance and Customisation
The interiors, developed by Sanlorenzo’s in-house Style Department, express a refined approach to luxury rooted in proportion and material harmony. Dark woods are paired with Calacatta Borghini marble, mother-of-pearl detailing, and champagne-toned metallic finishes, creating a warm and tactile atmosphere throughout.
Every element has been custom-designed, reflecting the brand’s made-to-measure philosophy. Large panoramic windows flood the Lower Deck VIP cabins with daylight, while the Main Deck lounge opens directly onto an infinity pool, blurring the line between interior living and the surrounding seascape. On the Owner’s Deck, full-height glazing and a spa-style bathroom transform the space into a private residence suspended above the water.
Exterior Design: Strength with Restraint
The exterior architecture, penned by Zuccon International Project, continues Sanlorenzo’s distinctive approach to steel—defined not by excess, but by composure and clarity. Clean lines, sculptural surfaces, and carefully balanced proportions give the yacht a commanding yet understated presence.
The Bridge Deck, extended by one meter, has been redesigned to enhance both form and function, integrating advanced technology within a refined architectural framework. At the aft end, the three-sided beach club remains one of the yacht’s most striking features, translating technical precision into an immersive experience of openness and tranquillity.
A Defining Moment for Steel Superyachts
Sold by Monaco-based brokerage Arcon Yachts, Perla Lunar marks the first chapter of the 58Steel story. As Sanlorenzo reflects on 15 years of leadership in steel yacht construction, the launch of this model underscores a continued commitment to innovation where sustainability, design, and engineering evolve in unison.
In the highly competitive 55–60 meter segment, the 58 Steel stands as a clear statement: a yacht conceived not only to meet today’s expectations but also to anticipate the demands of tomorrow—where silence, efficiency, and space define the ultimate luxury at sea.
