American yacht design studio Gary Grant Design has revealed an ambitious new superyacht concept measuring an extraordinary 153 meters in length. If realized, the project would set a new benchmark as the largest hybrid-powered superyacht ever conceived.
Developed with the aim of pushing boundaries in performance, sustainability, and large-scale yacht architecture, the concept is built around an advanced hybrid propulsion platform. This system is designed to enable fully electric, zero-emission operation while also delivering exceptional performance, with projected top speeds approaching 50 knots—an unprecedented figure for a yacht of this size.
According to studio founder Gary Grant, the project has been under development for more than a year, with the design process driven primarily by propulsion engineering and complex performance calculations. The result is a vessel where form, speed, and efficiency are tightly integrated from the outset.
Propulsion is centered on Wärtsilä 31 engines combined with a hybrid-electric system featuring a substantial energy storage solution and electric drives powering twin waterjets. For peak output, two additional Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbines feed power to a further pair of Wärtsilä waterjets, ensuring maximum thrust when required.
Beyond outright speed, the hybrid setup enables near-silent electric cruising, making the yacht well suited for operation in environmentally sensitive waters and regulated ports. An intelligent energy management system continuously optimizes power distribution, reducing emissions and minimizing environmental impact.
Known for striking and unconventional projects such as Crazy Me, Adler II, and Margaux, Gary Grant Design applies its distinctive sculptural language once again to this concept. The exterior is defined by flowing lines and extensive use of molded glass, giving the yacht a bold and futuristic presence.
Inside, expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing and ceiling heights exceeding 5.2 meters in the main saloon create a dramatic sense of volume and openness. The layout emphasizes fluid, open-plan living, complemented by a transformable beach club that seamlessly connects interior and exterior spaces—designed for wellness, entertainment, and absolute privacy on board.
