Fountaine Pajot has drawn fresh international attention after three of its latest sailing catamarans — the FP41, FP44 and FP55 — were shortlisted for the Boat of the Year 2026 awards, presented by the US publication Cruising World.
The triple recognition underlines the French builder’s continued push to refine modern cruising catamarans by blending performance under sail with comfort-focused living spaces across its core sailing range.
Presented annually by Cruising World, the Boat of the Year awards are regarded as one of the most respected distinctions in the sailing industry. The programme honours monohulls and multihulls that set new benchmarks in design, functionality and cruising capability.
Three nominees, three different cruising philosophies
Winners are chosen through a demanding review process led by a panel of industry specialists, including sailing journalists, naval architects and experienced professional sailors.
The judging takes place in two phases. The first involves an in-depth dockside review, where the jury examines construction standards, onboard ergonomics and technical systems. This is followed by sea trials on Chesapeake Bay in the United States, where each yacht is tested for handling, seaworthiness and steering responsiveness in real sailing conditions.
FP41: Compact size, big ambition
The FP41 is positioning itself as a strong contender in the 12-metre catamaran segment. Designed to offer more onboard comfort without compromising manoeuvrability, the model combines practical sailing characteristics with a highly liveable layout.
Its design makes room for several clearly defined social areas, including the cockpit, saloon and foredeck, giving owners and guests plenty of space to relax at sea. Movement between inside and outside is especially fluid thanks to a cockpit and saloon arranged on the same level, creating an open-plan atmosphere. The sail plan has also been developed for straightforward handling, making the yacht well suited to smaller crews. Buyers can choose between an owner-focused layout or a four-cabin version for private use or charter operations.
FP44: Comfort at the center of the concept
She reflects a fresh approach to modern cruising, with every area carefully planned to bring people together and make life on board more enjoyable. Open to the sea on every level, she delivers a welcoming atmosphere designed for relaxation and socialising. Her large aft cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon, creating one generous living space perfectly suited to unforgettable moments on board.

This 44-foot cruising catamaran is built for extended voyages, combining capable sailing performance with comfort and the simple enjoyment of being under sail. Bright, open living areas enhance the onboard experience, while the spacious cockpit connects naturally with both the saloon and the foredeck, encouraging easy movement throughout the yacht.
Under sail, she offers a well-balanced and reassuring feel, supported by refined hull design and an efficient sail plan developed to deliver both control and pleasure at the helm. The interior can be tailored to different needs, with layouts available in an owner-focused version or in several multi-cabin arrangements for a wide range of cruising plans.
FP55: Built for long-range horizons
At the top of the nominated trio, the FP55 represents Fountaine Pajot’s vision for the next generation of bluewater cruising catamarans. As the first model of its size in the range to feature a flybridge, it places strong emphasis on smooth circulation, premium finishes and long-distance capability.
Created for offshore passagemaking, the FP55 brings together sailing efficiency, autonomy and comfort for extended voyages. Its flybridge is designed as a true living area, integrating the helm station with relaxation zones and wide-open views. Below, the yacht offers notably generous volumes for a 55-foot catamaran, with a large cockpit and bright saloon that naturally connect with the exterior. Interior arrangements can also be tailored to different owner profiles, whether for family cruising or more ambitious long-range plans.

The winners of the Boat of the Year 2026 awards will be revealed during the Annapolis Boat Show on October 15, 2026. Fountaine Pajot is expected to attend the event, where visitors will have the chance to see the three nominated models alongside other yachts from the brand’s lineup.
The Annapolis showcase will provide another major stage for the builder to highlight its craftsmanship and reaffirm its position in the global sailing market.
