In a new video from the popular YouTube channel Multihulls World, the world premiere of the AY60 model is presented. This is a completely new power catamaran from Adventure Yachts, built in Thailand near Bangkok. This modern and innovative power cat attracted significant attention at the boat show, and after the exhibition ends, it will head directly to Split, Croatia, where it will spend the summer season.
Designed for Comfort and Space
The AY60 is conceived as a charter vessel, which is reflected in its design that maximizes space and different living areas on board. The goal is to allow all guests to enjoy time on the water without feeling crowded. This catamaran version is configured with four guest cabins and two crew cabins located in the bow. Both hulls are identical.
The aft cockpit is divided into a dry and a wet zone. The dry zone offers a large seating area and an outdoor galley, ideal for entertaining and enjoying the space. On the starboard side there is a wet zone with a built-in rinse shower, practical for coming aboard from the water and rinsing equipment.
Above the passengers’ heads are two huge electronically controlled storage compartments for toys such as paddleboards and floating accessories, ensuring everything is neatly stowed and ready for fun on the water.
Innovative Construction and Propulsion
The AY60 stands out with its modern design, dark colors, and extensive use of advanced materials. The structure includes 40% carbon fiber and 60% E-glass, resulting in an exceptionally light vessel. This version, as configured, weighs only 8.5 tons, making it a super-light boat for its 60-foot size.
Another key feature is the propulsion system. The catamaran is equipped with two outboard engines, each producing 300 horsepower. The choice of outboards is based on several reasons:
1. Safety: Since the boats are built in Thailand, where there are many fishing nets, outboard engines make it easier to free the vessel from tangled lines without needing to dive under the boat.
2. Vibration: Outboard engines significantly reduce vibration compared with inboard diesel engines, contributing to a more comfortable cruising experience.
Interestingly, when the aft cockpit doors are closed, the feeling is similar to being on a sailing catamaran, further emphasizing comfort and quietness. Although this version is fitted with outboard engines, the shipyard will also offer an inboard engine option for those who prefer it. The outboard configuration frees up significant space below deck for generators and technical equipment that would otherwise be occupied by engines.
Helm and Saloon
On the starboard side of the aft cockpit there is an exterior helm station. An additional interior helm station ensures full control in all conditions. From the exterior helm, visibility is excellent across all four corners of the boat, which is an important safety feature. Engine controls, a large Simrad display, and all necessary controls are within easy reach.
The main saloon has a modern and welcoming atmosphere. All the lines are rounded, and the black-and-white design contributes to a sophisticated look. The saloon is equipped with a huge seating area, which is essential for a charter vessel that must accommodate a larger number of people. Large tables are located both outside and inside.
Large windows along the entire boat provide 360-degree views, and all equipment is positioned low so as not to obstruct the view. The interior helm, located in the saloon, is ideal for sailing in poor weather conditions, allowing the crew to stay warm while still maintaining a clear view of all corners of the boat. This is an impressive feature for a 60-foot catamaran.
Forward Cockpit and Cabins
The forward cockpit offers a special feature - trampolines, which are not common on power catamarans. They provide a fun area for guests and contribute to the vessel’s sense of lightness. The boat is equipped with more than 8 kW of solar panels and batteries with a capacity of over 60 kWh, allowing for quiet nights - the vessel can operate all night on batteries without needing to start the generator.
One of the favorite features is the ladder that lowers from the bow directly into the water, providing additional access to the sea.
The cabins are designed with great attention to detail. The forward cabins have raised beds, the result of a desire to maximize free headroom above the deck (more than 1 meter) for comfort at sea. Despite the height, access is easy thanks to steps and a recessed ceiling section that prevents head bumps. Everything is neatly integrated: air conditioning, lighting, power outlets, and chargers. The beds are queen- or king-size, with comfortable headboards.
Storage space is abundant, with drawers and optimized space under the beds. Even the steps leading to the cabins are carefully shaped to fit into the overall design.
Instead of two small showers, the boat offers a Jack and Jill bathroom. Each cabin has a separate toilet and sink, but they share a large central shower with doors on both sides. The showers are fitted with a rain shower head, anti-slip flooring, and quick-drying surfaces.
The aft cabins have lower beds, making them more accessible. A special feature is the divider in the middle of the bed, which can be removed for couples or installed for two friends, optimizing space for charter use while providing privacy.
All cabins have large windows and excellent ventilation, with two hatches and one overhead opening. The aft cabin has direct access to the aft cockpit, providing additional ventilation. Despite the openness, dryness in the cabins is guaranteed because this area is still under the covered aft cockpit, protecting it from rain and spray.
Price and Availability
This AY60 model, as configured, costs 2.85 million euros. The shipyard is open to semi-custom orders and builds four to six vessels per year. Delivery time for semi-custom orders is relatively fast, between four and six months, since they always have two boats in production.
After the show, this particular AY60 will head to Split, Croatia, where it will be available for the summer season.
