Nautitech Catamarans unveiled the 41 Type S on 15 April 2026, presenting it as a lighter, more performance-focused and more adaptable catamaran for sailors seeking speed, comfort and durability in the 40–42-foot range.
The new model is positioned as more than a simple addition to the range. Nautitech says the 41 Type S is designed to offer a different approach to sailing, with a focus on reduced weight, improved handling and a layout that can evolve with changing cruising plans.
A lighter hull for better performance
One of the main changes on the Nautitech 41 Type S is its weight optimisation. The catamaran is described as the lightest 41-foot catamaran on the market, with one of the most competitive displacements in its class.
Nautitech says weight distribution played a central role in the design process. The heaviest components, including the engine, fuel tank and batteries, were positioned closer to the boat’s centre of gravity to reduce pitch and improve stability and comfort at sea. A lighter mast tube was also selected to limit weight at the ends.
According to the shipyard, the result is a boat that accelerates more quickly and remains responsive even in light winds. With a sail-to-displacement ratio of 5.17, the 41 Type S is presented as a high-performance catamaran combining speed, precision and sailing enjoyment.
The “S” concept and its eight dimensions
Nautitech says the “S” in the model name reflects a broader sailing philosophy built around eight dimensions that shape the onboard experience.
SAIL places sailing at the centre of the design, with an optimised rig and lightweight hull. SMART focuses on intuitive ergonomics and modularity. SENSATION highlights responsive steering and stability, even in rougher conditions. SPEED is based on naval architecture choices such as a rear-set mast and reduced pitch.
The remaining dimensions are STRONG, which refers to multi-material composite construction with carbon fibre/vinylester zones to absorb loads; SLEEK, defined by taut lines and inverted bows; SERENITY, which brings sheltered movement and panoramic visibility; and SPIRIT, which represents freedom, exploration and cruising at sea.
Reshape concept brings modular living spaces
The 41 Type S is also the first model on the market to offer Nautitech’s Reshape concept, which allows the catamaran to evolve over time rather than remain fixed in one configuration.
The system is designed around changing sailing plans, whether that means family cruising, a round-the-world voyage or more demanding sailing. At the centre of this approach is the modular SmartRoom Versatility, which can be transformed according to need, from a double cabin for guests to an optimised storage area.
WhisperHull technology for quieter sailing
Another key feature is the WhisperHull technology, based on a concave hull design intended to improve water flow, reduce turbulence and limit noise.
Nautitech says the hull shape helps the boat reach a cruising speed of 8 to 10 knots more quickly, while also reducing wake turbulence and improving acoustic comfort at anchor and underway. The effect is said to be even more noticeable when the boat is loaded.
The design also aims to improve weight distribution, maintain dynamic trim and enhance safety in rough seas. A raised bow is intended to make tacking and manoeuvring in port easier, while fuller forward sections help reduce pitching.
A 50/50 balance between saloon and cockpit
The layout of the saloon is another major change. Nautitech says the 41 Type S offers a 50/50 balance between the interior and the cockpit, a configuration that remains uncommon in this segment.
The design is intended to create a smoother flow between living areas and encourage movement, sociability and a stronger connection with the outdoors. A large fully glazed panoramic bay provides 360-degree sea views and more natural light, while also improving visibility when sailing.
The roof architecture is designed to reduce visual obstruction and improve forward visibility from the saloon and helm station.
Design, comfort and durability
Nautitech also places emphasis on the boat’s proportions and roof height, saying the goal is to achieve a balanced and harmonious deck line. The company says the height of the nacelle bottom is more pronounced than on competing models, and that the brand’s signature high waterline, first seen on the Nautitech 44, has been carried over to the 41 Type S.
Inside, the atmosphere is described as modern, welcoming and practical, with materials including wood, technical textiles and marine-inspired finishes. The catamaran also includes sustainable solutions such as solar panels, lithium batteries and optimised resource management.
Nautitech says the 41 Type S is intended to reduce environmental impact while extending the pleasure of sailing, and that its combination of lightness, performance and modularity could make it a benchmark in the 41-foot catamaran segment.
