GRP Hull, Slim Tubes and a Bigger Cockpit
Highfield is traditionally renowned for its aluminum-hulled RIBs, but the ADV9 marks a departure with its GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) hull molding. This choice allows for a more sophisticated internal layout and features typically found on conventional sports boats, such as molded steps for easy boarding and integrated cup holders.
One of the most striking design choices is the use of thinner diameter tubes (approximately 44 cm compared to the 58 cm found on the Highfield 900 Sport). Positioned high above the waterline, these tubes do not provide buoyancy during normal operation; instead, they function as built-in fenders and highly effective wave deflectors. By minimizing the tube's intrusion into the interior, Highfield has maximized the cockpit space, allowing for a full-width leisure area that utilizes the boat's entire 2.3-meter beam.
The ADV9 features a transformer-style modular aft cockpit that can be reconfigured for various activities. Users can switch between several distinct modes:
- Cruising Mode: An open layout designed for easy movement around the vessel.
- Picnic Mode: Features comfortable seating for up to eight people around a thick teak table, supported by dual fridges located at the helm station.

During testing in a messy one-meter swell, the ADV9 demonstrated its robust Highfield DNA. Despite weighing approximately four tons—significantly heavier than a conventional RIB—its deep-V hull (22-degree deadrise) and sharp vertical stem cut through waves with remarkable stability.
The test boat, powered by twin 250hp Honda outboards, reached a staggering top speed of 42 knots even in lumpy conditions. The hull felt utterly safe and remarkably dry, with no spray reaching the windscreen during high-speed maneuvers. For even more power, Highfield offers engine configurations up to twin 300hp Mercury outboards.
Seakeeper Ride Adds Extra Control and Comfort
A standout feature of the ADV9's performance is the optional Seakeeper Ride system. This vessel attitude control system uses ultra-fast actuators—reacting up to 100 times per second—to eliminate pitching and keep the bow pinned to the water.
Testing showed that while the hull is exceptionally capable on its own, the Seakeeper system allowed for a much more level and comfortable ride at high speeds in rough water. This technology, though a premium addition, transforms the ADV9 into a high-performance cruiser that remains comfortable for guests even when the sea turns messy.
