Christian Gott, lead concept designer at British luxury motor yacht manufacturer Fairline, has been named Designer of the Year at the Boat Builder Awards at METSTRADE in Amsterdam.
Facing competition
From designers at Rand Boats, TYDE, and HH Catamarans, Christian won for his work on Fairline's latest models, including the Squadron 68 and Phantom 65 launched in 2022 and the new Squadron 58 unveiled at the Southampton International Boat Show. The Targa 40 will debut at Boot Düsseldorf in January, marking another achievement for Christian and his team.
The judges noted Christian's impressive 14-year journey from boatbuilder apprentice to lead concept designer, highlighting his role in styling the Squadron 58.
The awards, recognizing business achievements since 2015, are organized by IBI and METSTRADE and celebrate contributions within the global boatbuilding industry.
James Powell, Sales Director at Fairline, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent and praised Christian's integral role in the company's design evolution while maintaining Fairline's heritage.
Christian expressed his gratitude for the recognition and highlighted Fairline's commitment to classic design, ensuring that key features remain consistent across models while allowing for subtle differences.
